Hello & Welcome to my website which is dedicated to my Bullmastiffs. I hope you enjoy them as much as i do. Here at Godicia all the dogs are treated with love and respect. It goes without saying that they have second to none, bomb proof temperaments. Having two boys of my own who can handle them is a must!!
I come from a home of animal lovers as a chlld we had three dogs & other animals not to mention a pony. My interest was ignited in Bullmastiffs when I was growing up. Two of my friends were owners of the breed. In 2000 I became the proud owner of my first Bullmastiff Tessa. Then in 2004 i decided i wanted a show specimen. Along came Nina who past last year. She is sorely missed. I have dedicated a page to the big girl which can be found In Memory.
I am truly besotted with the breed which is driven by ambition and passion to establish my own type within the breed unmistakable Godicia's. I seek out serious breeders who strive for excellence who i can identify with & learn from with a common goal. I eat ,breath, sleep & talk dogs!!. I intend to breed bitches of 25 inches and males 26 to 27 inches, smack bang in the middle of the standard & produce a line of prepotent dogs who will produce themselves over and over again.. So i consistenly have dogs of type to follow on after the next one not just a one off Champion or dogs with nothing behind the collar, just a lolly pop on a stick, it has to be the whole package or nothing. They will be as close to the breed standard as is possible, eradicting defects or faults along the way. Puppies born as small versions or carbon copies of an adult who maintain their type so you know what you will get as an adult. Even litters which will only come with tight breeding. Rest assurred emphasis is on fit for purpose dogs, hence the need for good construction, if it isn't made right it wont stand or move right!! Although anyone can have a litter of puppies it takes alot more determination and dedication to breed a good litter. Believe me it isn't easy, breeding comes with many hazzarads pitfalls, it is emotianally taxing, time consuming not to mention sleep deprivation and done propperly with the breed in mind there is never no momentary gain.
However Rome wasn't built in a day. I personally dont have the mobility to move as quickly as a large breeder owning 20 to 30 dogs having 4 litters a year. I dont make a ripple in the ocean when it comes to the overall gene pool, being a small breeder occasionally having a litter when i wont to improve on what i have. Although it comes across as negative it's not meant to as I feel owning a small number of dogs you can dedicate more time to them.
I'm not an avid fan of the showring, which is well known hence the reason i probably dont have a Champion. I like the nitty gritty of breeding and researching pedigrees. In order to have a Champion you have to be at every show and campaign your dog not being a great lover of the ring only light showing willy nilly doesn't cut it. Although the boys have shown a keen interest in showing. ** Watch this space** The dogs i have produced have had numerous best puppies in open and at champshow level. Also Godicia's Bam Boozler & litter brother Godicia's Game Master have done extremely well. Daniel Ciminera of Ocatoro Bullmastiffs consistentanly gaining many 1sts at Champshow level & a 4th at Crufts in a strong class with Godicia's Bam Boozler aka Lollypop.
Kennel blindness i'm far from it infact i'm probably over critical of my dogs i'm aware of every fault they have which is evalutated before a planned mating. Although I strive for perfection in my dogs there is no such thing however i would like to be as close to my ideal as is possible. If you wont to join me on this ride it will have lows and highs but please feel free to contact me if only for advice i'm willing to help and if I dont know i will put you intouch with someone who does know. Thank you for visiting Godicia Bullmastiffs on your travels around the web!!
